Research demonstrates that quality “curriculum” is based upon what successful parents have known all along. Young children need a lot of personal attention and an engaging, but not over-stimulating, amount of activity. Programs based on child development focus on relationships and interactions as the basis for curriculum. They recognize that predictable routines such as mealtimes, playing outside, and reading provide a rich context for learning.
At Hearts and Minds, the curriculum consists of three main components: interactions, the environment, and activities (both planned and spontaneous). Each day will include a balance of quiet and active play and follow a predictable routine for the children. However, the times and types of activities offered will be flexible and individualized for the needs and temperaments of the children.
